You’ve booked your boudoir photoshoot and you couldn’t be more excited! So, what should you do now? Well, there are some essential things that you should do to ensure that you’re prepared and ready to make the most of your shoot. Let me guide you through these final weeks of preparation to make sure that your boudoir photos turn out as special and unique as you are. From finding the perfect styles to staying hydrated and more – here are 10 things that you should know on how to prep for your boudoir photoshoot:
There are so many different styles that you can choose from for your boudoir shoot. So, a few weeks before your shoot, sit down and take some time to figure out what type of look you’re going for (edgy, dark and moody, light and airy, etc.). Then, look online and find some outfits that match that style and show off your personality. Be sure to refer to your style guide magazine you received upon booking for links to all my favorite lingerie shops. I break down shops by style, body type and budget to make shopping soo much easier!
I cannot stress this enough…be sure that you’re getting enough water in the weeks leading up to your photoshoot. It can truly do wonders for your body. Not only does it make you feel more energized, but it will also make you look more refreshed, helps you avoid wrinkles, and gives your skin a beautify glow.
If you’re someone who leaves your makeup on every night without washing it off, it’s time to start a new skincare routine! Get into a habit of cleaning your face with a gentle cleanser at the end of the day, and then put on a thin layer of your favorite moisturizer. Since you’ll be arriving to your photoshoot with a “naked” face, this routine will help your skin look amazing and ready for your photoshoot pampering.
If you’re new to the world of boudoir, there’s something you should know about how to prep for your boudoir photoshoot. Posing for a boudoir shoot isn’t always the easiest of tasks. You’re going to get bendy, and you’ll need to maneuver your body into some interesting positions at times. Don’t let that freak you out, it’s just that you likely don’t hold an arched back position on a daily basis and I want you to get ready for a mini workout. This is exactly why you should be stretching out each day leading up to your shoot. Not only will this help you hold these positions, but you’ll also be a lot less sore after your session. #sorrynotsorry
A boudoir photoshoot is an investment in you, girl! So it’s only right that you treat yourself to a manicure and pedicure beforehand. Though you can choose any nail polish color that you’d like, I’ve found that neutral colors or even a classic French manicure look the best in photos.
You have your outfits and jewelry all picked out, and tomorrow is the day of your shoot – yay! Before you go to bed and get a good night’s rest, take one final look in the bag you packed for your shoot, and make sure that you aren’t forgetting anything. The last thing you want is to forget one of your new outfits!
On the morning of your photoshoot, please make sure that all of your makeup is off and that your face is free of any products. My professional makeup artist will be onsite to apply some beautiful airbrushed makeup and lashes on you, and it makes the process go a whole lot smoother if you show up with a “naked” face.
Did I mention that posing for a boudoir photoshoot is a mini workout? You’re going to be busy from the start of your session all the way to the very end so please, eat a healthy and delicious breakfast before arriving at the studio – I promise that you won’t regret it! I am also a full supporter or after photoshoot snacks so be sure to pack a little something for the ride home.
Before heading out the door, check your inbox for a final arrival email. I send this out at 6am the morning of your photoshoot so you can have quick access it everything you need. This email will contain our studio’s address and last minute reminders to make sure you’re morning is easy and stress-free.
It’s time to head to your boudoir shoot, so get ready for your big moment. Think about all the reasons that you’re doing this shoot, remember what an absolute queen you are, and think about how today is going to make you feel. So crank up the music, sing out loud, and have a mini dance party on the car ride over cause girl, I am SO excited for you to experience how amazing this photoshoot is going to make you feel!
Following the list above about how to prep for your boudoir photoshoot will only help ensure that you look and feel incredible for your boudoir shoot.
